DICTIONARY

When learning a language, it is often really hard to start. What words is handy to know? When do you know a language and when do you understand a news paper for example? It is clever to start learning the most used words. That is going to be a good basis and it is easier to expand your vocabulary from there.

Tip:

If you really want to study words, memorizing is really important. Depending on how often you are repeating it, it will stick in your head for a longer time. Therefore, it is good to repeat every day.

Tip:

Try to work on your pronunciation. Probably your end goal is going to be interacting with people in Bulgarian. Obviously, they need to understand you as well. Try to read out loud to practice your pronunciation!

Tip:

Be more interactive when learning a new language! Try to speak, write, read, watch etc. You will trigger more parts of your brain and you will learn more parts about the language. It is more efficient than studying the grammar and vocabulary once a week. I have mentioned this before but it is really good to repeat!

Tip:

Focus on the alphabet. It is clever to study the alphabet because the Cyrillic alphabet can be really difficult! It is even more overwhelming if you try to study some words without background knowledge about the alphabet. However, don’t spend too much time on grammar because that is the least important in my opinion. I think you should start with the alphabet and then the vocabulary. It is however important to know some grammar but don’t make it an issue!
